Reaching the corporate world through ‘Festival of Thought’

Next month, Festival of Thought, one of RZIM’s most exciting initiatives, will take place in South Africa (15-22 April). More than 100 events are planned in the space of just one week in the major cities of Cape Town and Johannesburg, with additional events in Stellenbosch, Pretoria and Potchefstroom.

Festival of Thought centres around the ‘big questions’ of the corporate world: Does integrity matter at work? How can I get results and preserve relationship? Do the markets need morality? How can I lead in an honourable way?

The RZIM team will be going into key companies including JP Morgan, Deloitte and King Price Insurance, amongst others. Additionally, many of South Africa’s next generation of business leaders are currently studying at leading universities, so Festival of Thought will include extensive programmes of engagement for the campuses of UCT in Cape Town, Wits University in Johannesburg, North West University in Potchefstroom, and Stellenbosch University.

We would value your support and generosity towards our work to reach those in business throughout the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa, whether through Festival of Thought or through our ongoing programme of activities in major cities. If you can help, please fill out the form below, ticking the Gift Aid box if you are able. Alternatively, please ring Anna or Becca on our reception to make a credit card donation. What is Gift Aid?

Charities take your donation (which is money you’ve already paid tax on), and then reclaim tax on its ‘gross’ equivalent.

In practice, this means that if you give £100 using Gift Aid, that gift is worth £125 to us; the added £25 being relief from HMRC.

We will also treat all donations that you have made for the past four years and all donations you make in the future as Gift Aid donations, until you tell us otherwise.

Who can use Gift Aid?
UK Taxpayers can tick the box, as long as they pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that we will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year.

Benefits to higher-rate taxpayers
If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can reclaim tax relief on your gross donation at 20% (i.e. the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% and the basic rate at 20%). So, for the gift of £100 mentioned above, you are eligible to reclaim £20 in your tax returns.

Non taxpayers
If you do not pay tax in the UK, you should not use Gift Aid.

Terms and Conditions
By ticking the box above, you confirm that you are paying an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6th April one year to 5th April the next) that is at least equal to the tax that RZIM Zacharias Trust will reclaim on your donations in the appropriate tax year. You also confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations, then it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
